Founder & President

Ling King

An out-and-out sugarholic with a peculiar obsession with lemons, currently in an addictive relationship with chocolate lava cake (plus vanilla ice cream, of course).

Sure, it’s not far off to call me a weirdo, but that didn’t stop me from founding Beyond Horizon Youth Volunteers. I have always been drawn to all kinds of matters related to fairness (comes from being a younger sibling, I guess). “Not fair!” was one of the first phrases I blurted out as a babbling toddler. Soon enough, what started as a fixation about absolute equality with my brother grew into a drive to help others.

As we gather more and more volunteers and gain increasing momentum, Beyond Horizon is now an embodiment of a collective effort to bring better opportunities to children in rural Taiwan.

Executive director

Lian chiu

As a student who had attended a public elementary school, I am well aware of the lack of access to quality education that a lot of children face. Recognizing the need for change, I joined Beyond Horizon three years ago with the intention of making a meaningful difference in as many lives as possible.

After joining Beyond Horizon, I have met numerous incredible students who are eager to pursue a better education, as well as passionate peers who share the same aspirations as I do. Now, as the executive director of Beyond Horizon, I am committed to expanding our influence beyond the confines of our current boundaries.

Deputy executive director

Christine Lan

Hello :D I’m Christine Lan from Pacific American School. Since I was small, I have always had a deep passion for exploring different things. From knowing new people to testing exotic food, these experiences have all satisfied my inquisitive nature; the same can be said for my involvement with Beyond Horizon. I am always excited to have classes with my student and get to know this passional individual who lives a completely different life from me. When I eventually joined the team, the experience working with other volunteers continue to enrich me. Setting aside all professional matters, I enjoy reading, watching YouTube, and organizing my studygram in my leisure time. I am also an avid Kpop fan, with Seventeen being my favorite group.

Executive Secretaries

  • Charles

Hi guys! I'm Charles, currently a junior at Taipei Wego High School. I grew up loving to draw. I have finished many artworks such as comic characters, landscapes, and architecture. I like to play basketball, travel, and listen to music in my spare time. I’m also a movie person. Stranger Things, Breaking Bad, and the MCU franchise are all my favorites. I can talk about them for hours!! One thing special about me is that I can write Chinese calligraphy, the abstract beauty of the strokes fascinates me.

Being a tutor for a year, I have a sense of accomplishment in helping people to improve their English ability. Beyond Horizon has invested a lot in English education for children in remote areas, and I’m glad to be a part of the team! As a secretary, I will do my best to maintain the stability of the organization and help more children who need help get access to the resources that we provide.

  • Zoe

Hi guys! I’am Zoe, currently a junior at Kang Chiao International School. I love painting and listen to Taylor Swift in my spare time. I joined Beyong Horizon since I was in 9th grade, this is my 3rd year in Beyond Horizon family! Interacting with kids and watching them improve throughout the journey always give me a warm and fuzzing feeling. despite the wondeful experience, I have come to realize tremendous number of children lack the academic resources. Therefore, it's a great pleasure to become the secreatary of Beyond Horizon. Within the effort on social media, I hope Beyond Horizon can reach out for more kids, extending an olive brench to them.

  • Willie

Hello, I'm Willie Wang, a senior at Pacific American School and a three-year volunteer at Beyond Horizon. I'm honored to be the core cadre this year, serving as secretary. In my free time, I enjoy watching YouTube, Netflix, and K-dramas. On Friday nights, I play sports and badminton with friends to relieve schoolwork stress. My dream is to become an airline pilot, exploring beautiful sunsets across continents. Joining BH has made my life more interesting. Every Wednesday, I meet children online, helping them improve their English skills. Their progress brings me joy and motivates me to work hard for all the children in BH!
